MADISONVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT The Madisonville Volunteer Fire Department is all-volunteer department that responds to emergency calls within the City of Madisonville and its assigned area in Madison County. MVFD provides mutual aid to Midway, North Zulch, and Normangee Fire Departments in the county, as well as adjoining counties, and as requested. The department is housed at 1617 East Main, but operates through the city’s main office.  Telephone messages may be left at 936-348-9297, and are checked by the volunteers as time allows. To become a Volunteer Fire Fighter – Call 936-348-9297 and leave a message Copies of fire reports are also available by contacting this department.
WHAT WE DO MVFD is proud to have experienced, dedicated personnel on the team. MVFD responds to fire calls of all types, wrecks, bomb threats, hazardous materials incidents, searches, and other rescue and public safety requests.  The department also provides Fire Prevention and Fire Safety programs and printed materials for citizens and community groups.  Business and facility fire inspections may also be scheduled by contacting this department.  Information on controlled burning may be reviewed from this site and should be coordinated through the department in advance of the proposed burn.  County-issued burn bans are monitored by the department and a burn ban flag flies in front of the station when a ban is in effect for Madison County. Madisonville VFD’s response fleet includes two pumpers, one tanker, three wildland fire- fighting trucks, a rescue unit, a rescue boat, and historical apparatus.
WHEN WE MEET The department meets each Monday night and holds a minimum of two training drills per month.  Many members attend additional training throughout the state, and several members are instructors for the Annual Municipal Texas A&M University Fire School. The department is also active in the Madison/Leon Firefighters’ Training Association and participates in the volunteer certification program administered by the State Firemen and Fire Marshal’s Association.
