Director of Public Relations, Marketing and Tourism Director
 
Job Description: Under the direction of the City Manager, the Director of Marketing and Tourism develops and implements marketing strategies and events to promote Madisonville. This includes developing and maintaining working relationships with the business community, hotels/motels, and area organizations that encourage visitors to attend their events. This person represents the City as a liaison with area organizations and conferences. In addition, this position will oversee the effective operations of the Truman Kimbro Convention Center and manage all administrative aspects of the Hotel Occupancy Tax. May be required to attend City Council Meetings. The duties listed ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed, but only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities; may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
 
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Tourism, Public Relations, or related field preferred but not mandatory. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must have marketing, advertising, or communications background and be a diplomatic and skilled communicator. This position will work closely with local and regional media, develop tourism materials and manage social media. The successful candidate for the City Director of Tourism must have an appreciation and understanding of community involvement and be a self-starter, persevering, and personable. Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies and procedures.
 
The selected candidate will be required to travel outside the area for meetings, conferences and trade shows, etc, in their own vehicle. Expenses will be compensated in accordance to the City of Madisonville Employee Handbook. Will need to work some nights and weekends as assigned.
 
Compensation: Salary is dependent on background and qualifications. The City of Madisonville offers a generous benefit program including retirement, health and life insurance, paid vacation and sick leave.
