Job Title: Parks/Airport Maintenance

Job Description: Under supervision of the Parks Department Supervisor, Parks Department personnel performs various jobs in general maintenance and development of the City parks, recreational equipment, facilities, and airport grounds which require skill and knowledge of parks and airport maintenance. Duties include mowing, planting, seeding, pruning, and fertilizing park and airport property. Responsible for litter control, operates various equipment and push and hand held power tools on construction and maintenance projects, and repairs structures as required. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of soil amendments for flower beds and be able to climb a 12-foot ladder to prune and paint. Personnel will work outside in extreme weather conditions as well as in tight or enclosed areas such as trenches, bent over or on knees for extended periods of time. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required 5 days/40 hours a week. May be required to occasionally work weekends and nights.

Job Requirements: One year related field or experience in Park or Airport Maintenance is preferred but not mandatory. Previous work experience in construction, equipment operations and general maintenance or experience in ground maintenance or plant culture is needed. Must be able to operate equipment such as tractors, chippers, stump grinders, welders, and other equipment with skill and safety. A high school diploma or GED and a valid Texas Driver’s License Class C is required.

The successful candidate for the Park/Airport Maintenance position for the City of Madisonville should be self-motivated; have an appreciation for accuracy, efficiency and safety; and be able to work independently while following written and oral direction.
