Job Title:  Waste Water Treatment Plant Maintenance

Job Description:  Under the direction of the Director of the Waste Water Treatment Plant, assists with the overall direction of all Waste Water Treatment Plant operations, maintenance, construction, and improvement activities.  Controls and monitors all chemical testing, sewage pumping, and mechanical functions.

Monitors and records water levels, flow charts and pressure gauges.  Monitors pumps and motors.  Keeps wastewater plant neat and operating safely. 

Assists in plant maintenance.  Helps perform bacteriological and chlorine sampling.  Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Must be able to read, understand and follow written and oral directions, write reports by hand, and use good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly.  Must be able to hear clearly when working around equipment.  Using proper safety precautions may need to lift up to 100 pounds and pull, push or drag up to 150 pounds of equipment.  Must be able to climb, crawl, kneel, squat, stoop and bend; sit for long periods of time while operating equipment; hear clearly.  Personnel will work outside in extreme weather conditions.  Exposure to fumes, dust and loud noises.  Performs other duties as assigned. 

Required 5 days/40 hours a week.  Will work every other weekend.  Subject to after hour calls for emergency situations on weekends and nights.  

Job Requirements:  One year related field or experience preferred but not mandatory.  Must possess an aptitude to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment in the field.  A high School Diploma or GED and a valid Texas Driver’s License Class C are required.  Must attain a D Waste Water License within one year. 

 The successful candidate for the Waste Water Treatment Plant Maintenance position for the City of Madisonville should be self-motivated; have an appreciation for accuracy, efficiency and safety; and be able to work independently while following written and oral direction.
